Some years ago, Bobby McFerrin sang this popular song, and it turns
out that it was even better advice than you might otherwise think. And
now, there is scientific proof that it’s not only good advice for life, but
a good way to preserve heart health, and avoid heart attacks and strokes,
among other health problems.

It was recently reported on CBS that happier people have a lower risk
of heart disease. It seems the relxation response, which is characterized
by lowered blood pressure, lower heart rate and decreased stress is a
life saver. And it correlates with being happy.

According to Dr. Corina Davidson, PhD from Columbia University and Dr.
John Lapook, MD, there is a genetic component to being happy. But if
you are not so inclined, genetically, you can still obtain these great
health benefits by actively trying to be happy, or thinking happier
thoughts, or doing things that are pleasurable to do.

This is more evidence of the vaunted “body-mind connection,” which
postulates the interrelationship between the bodily functions and one’s
mental and emotional state.

In other words, how you feel and how you think directly influence your
bodily functions, for good or for ill. And by changing how you think
and how you feel, you can alter your physiological functions.

Conversely, you can influence your emotions and your thoughts by
bodily activity, like exercise.

One good way to begin to get a handle on your own autonomic functions,
like your blood pressure, heart rate, and stress levels is to do some
daily deep breathing. Deep abdominal breathing is often a good way to
begin a practice of meditation, which has many proven physiological
benefits, too. Daily doses of pharmaceutical fish oil will also enhance
this relaxation effect.

This is one of the major principles in my RAPID FIRE FAT LOSS PROGRAM.

http://drbillsclinic.com/rapid-fire-fat-loss.html

See, if you enlist the power of your own mind to positively affect the
autonomic functions of your body, those that just “happen,” all by
themselves, without you thinking about it, why you reduce your risks
of many diseases, enhance your immune system and strengthen the
function and resilience of all your bodily systems.

If your body behaves more effectively you will ramp up your metabolic
rate, reduce your blood sugar and insulin secretion and lose weight,
quickly and easily, virtually automatically.

Hey, this is the same program I used myself to lose…and keep off…
about 60 pounds! That’s how I know IT WORKS! And it will work for you,
too.

So, try my program, lose weight fast, reduce your risk of heart attack
and stroke and, as the song says, “Don’t worry, be happy.” You’ll live
longer, if you do.

Til next time, my friend, be well.

Yours for rapid fire fat loss and your optimal health,

Well, Superbowl XLVI is history, now. The Giants’ Eli Manning was
voted MVP, as he led his team to a 21-17 victory over the favored
New England Patriots’ Tom Brady at the Lucas Oil Stadium, in
Indianapolis, IN, last night. As a native New Yorker, I’m pleased as I
can be, this morning. To all those who lost money, by betting on the
Patriots, I can only say…TOUGH LUCK!

And it was luck, because this was far from a blowout. The end was in
doubt throughout the game, right to the closing moments. I don’t know
about you, but I hate one-sided games. They’re boring. But this one was
exciting from the start–a real nail biter– and it could have gone either way.

The highlights included that amazing long pass, caught by Mario
Manningham, #82, just a whisker before he was knocked out of bounds.
They needed to see it on videotape, before they ruled on whether or
not it was good.

Did you see the knee injuries that a couple of the Giants got during
the game? Ballard got himself an ACL (anterior cruciate ligament)
injury from a tackle. They had to help the poor guy off the field,
as you just can’t bear weight on real ACL tears.

You can learn more about them, as well as the cure, in my original knee
program, DR. BILL’S LITTLE GREEN BOOK FOR ELIMINATING KNEE PAIN.

http://drbillsclinic.com/eliminate_knee_pain.html

Odds are good he’ll end up with reconstructive surgery, but maybe he’ll
get lucky and rehab and bracing will be adequate. Time will tell.

When you see the size and weight of some of those linemen, smashing
into the other guys at such high velocity, it always amazes me that
they don’t actually kill each other. The impact must be incredible!

And how about Madonna’s Half Time Show? Was it just me, or did she seem
like she barely moved. Very subdued, I thought. Granted, her knees are
pretty good–she did all those deep, repetitive squats (which I don’t
recommend, BTW), but her attempts at cartwheels were kind of lame. Not
that I can do cartwheweels, but there was a time when her performances
were really high voltage, with lots of crackling kinetic energy.

To me, from her entrance like Cleopatra, being dragged in by scores of muscle
bound Roman legionnaires, with elaborate costumes and Egyptian (actually
Helenistic) motif, this extravaganza seemed overproduced and over-choreographed.

The best part was the end, with a Gospel Chorus and Cee Lo Green, as a
preacher, helping her belt out her old hit, “Like a Prayer.” At the very
end, she disappeared from the stage, descending in a jet of white smoke
and the message, “World Peace,” in lights, limned the darkness of the field.

This show was followed by a closeup clip of Clint Eastwood, announcing in
his best Dirty Harry voice that this was the Halftime Show. Always good to
see this cultural icon. Made my day….

Then, there were the ads…over 3 million for a minute. Unbelievable!
I thought they were kind of tame, compared to last years’, but maybe it’s
just me.

A couple were pretty good, though, and deserve mention. I liked the
one with Betty White, where she tells some guys that she can’t tell if they
like her mind, or her body (she’s, like, 90 years old) and she says,
“Hey! My eyes are up here!” That was funny stuff!

Then, there was that statuesque, sultry Italian beauty, manhandling
this little nerdy looking guy (like in a dream sequence) for Fiat Arbath,
a new imported car.

A few different animated Coca Cola Polar Bear ads, were OK, but they
were no longer the novelties they were. There were a couple of Doritos ads
which I thought were cute, too, especially the one where the elderly woman
in a wheelchair snaps a little boy on elastic suspenders at a taunting boy,
to snatch away his Doritos.

As a true fan boy (despite my years and my wife’s embarrassment),
I loved the sneak peek at the upcoming Avengers movie, with glimpses o
f Nick Fury, The Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye and
the Black Widow, from Marvel Entertainment. That’s due to open May 4th.

The best one, I thought, was the ad with Seinfeld, a number of characters,
like the Soup Nazi, from his famous comedy show and Jay Leno. That was
funny and as entertaining as can be!

All in all, a pretty good game experience for our national tribal rite
celebrating the end of football season. Hope you enjoyed it as much as
I did. Until next year, we’re all “standing on the shoulders of Giants.”
The New York Giants–world champions! Til next time, my friend, be well.

Yours for a pain-free tomorrow and your optimal health,

Yesterday, I drove from Orlando to Clearwater, a good 2-1/2 hour trip,
to attaned a seminar on internet marketing. Amazingly, it went very
smoothly, with very little time wasted in heavy traffic, which is often
the case on this run.

During the drive, I listened to the news on the radio, as I usually do.
Several times I heard the press release from the University of California
at San Francisco about soda (or “pop,” if you come from the South). It
seems that they did a study out there that demonstrated that there is
a definite link between the sugar in the sodas and various health problems.

At the same time, other university studies have shown that diet sodas
also were associated with various health problems. For example, a new
study in the Journal of General Internal Medicine shows that drinking
diet soda is associated with a higher incidence of stroke and heart
attack.

Analysis of data from The Framingham Study has shown that diet soda
consumption is associated with metabolic syndrome.

Dr. Helen Hazuda, professor of medicine at University of Texas Health
Science Center at San Antonio, said “They may be free of calories, but
not of consequences.”

Like getting FAT!

Another study followed 474 diet soda drinkers, ages 65 to 74 years old,
for almost 10 years. They found that participants who drank diet soda i
ncreased waist measurements 70 percent more than non-drinkers.
Turned out that drinking two or more diet sodas a day expanded waist
circumference 500% more than those who drank none!

If that wasn’t enough, an animal study demonstrated that mice fed meals
sweetened with aspartame (a common artificial sweetener) had higher
blood sugar levels tha the control group wich ate food, absent the
sweetener. Researchers feel that artificial non-caloric sweeteners
stimulate appetite but fail to satisfy that appetite.

Does all this sound vaugely familiar? It should.

I’ve been telling you for years that soda is bad for your health. And
this is from a former Pepsi addict. Regular soda is loaded with liquid
sugar that rapidly absorbed and stimulates a huge insulin surge. Diet
sodas are also bad but for the reasons outlined in these recent studies.

I’ve always said so, but now there’s clinical, scientific proof that
this is good advice. In fact, it’s one of the cornerstones of my new
RAPID FIRE FAT LOSS PROGRAM: http://drbillsclinic.com/rapid-fire-fat-loss.html

So what should you drink? I recommend three substances: pure water,
seltzer (I personally like lime flavored sparkling water, seltzer, or
mineral water, like Perrier, or San Peligrino) and green tea (which has
EGCG, epigallocatechin gallate, which stimulates the metabolism and
helps fat loss).

That’s what I now drink and what I recommend in my program. In fact,
drinking plenty of water, to ensure adequate hydration of the tissues,
promote fullness and early satiety is a fundamental factor in achieving
and maintaining weight loss. I have personally known many people who
did nothing else but drink large volumes of water to lose weight. It
works.

But what works best is to use this tip, in addition to all the many others
that are part of my program. When they’re all combined, it shifts your body
into fat loss mode and shrinks your waist, at warp 9 speed!

This is a program that’s based on real, proven science. And one that I’ve
used myself to lose 60 pounds…an keep it off (which is harder to do, long
term than losing it to start with).

Look, if you need to lose weight, if you want to reduce your risk for
heart attack, stroke, cancer, even Alzheimer’s, then you NEED my program.
If that sounds like you, then click the link and GET IT HERE!

http://drbillsclinic.com/rapid-fire-fat-loss.html

Til next time, my friend, be well. And enjoy the Superbowl!

Yours for rapid fire fat loss and your optimal health,

Dr. Bill

P.S. Remember, drink water, seltzer and green tea and avoid diet sodas
for weight loss. And if you want to ramp up your metabolism and optimize
your results, then click the link and ORDER NOW!

Have you ever done an informal survey of your friends, about what
medical conditions they fear most? Odds are good that they fear cancer.
Yet, heart disease, specifically coronary artery disease is what they
SHOULD fear most.

According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) and the NIH (National
Institutes of Health), CAD is the number one cause of death in the country.
In 2007, the last year for which full statistics are available, more than
616,000 deaths were attributed to that disease. Cancer, by contrast, and
taking all types into account, was number two. Still formidable, but not
the top killer.

So why the fear for the number two, but for number one, not so much?

The answer is… EMOTION.

CAD is more deadly, but CA is scarier, pure and simple. Think about it.

Most of the time, the first symptom of heart disease is sudden death.
Not pleasant, for sure, but not that scarey either. You’re going along
and suddenly…BOOM! Lights out! You’re gone. Just like that.

If you get chest pain and shortness of breath, that’s a relatively good
thing, because you’re not dead. In a way, angina (chest pain) is like
a warning. And while you’re still alive, there is hope and the ability
to make some changes, before it’s too late.

By contrast, cancer is insidious and lingering and often painful and
disfiguring, as well. There are biopsies, scans, surgery, chemotherapy,
radiation, often loss of vital functions, and no sure result, after all
of that.

You only know if you’ve survived…by surviving, for five years, or better.
And even then, you can never be sure it won’t rear its ugly head again,
in the future. There is a terrifying uncertainty about it.

In short, it’s scary as Hell.

Even I’m more scared of cancer and I KNOW better. It’s just very human
to react that way.

Now, what if I told you that with a few simple changes to your life, your
diet and your activity level you can alter your genetic destiny for BOTH
heart disease AND cancer?

If you said “WHAT?!” and were a bit skeptical, I wouldn’t blame you.
But, it’s true.

There ARE a number of small alterations in what you eat and how, what
you do and how, plus some bad habits to avoid, which, when combined, will
slash your risk of heart attack (and stroke) and markedly reduce your risk
for many forms of cancer.

The trick is to make small, incremental “Baby Steps” in the right direction
and see them gradually make a dramatic improvement in your risk profile.
And you can do this without special food, without a gym membership, without a
personal trainer…and without hunger, or pain.

For example, just cutting out all the bread, pasta, sugar and other
refined carbohydrates in your diet goes a long way toward reducing
cardiac risk. But there are a few tricks that make this easy to do,
so you’re not always craving carbs.

Want to know how? It’s all here, in my new HEART HEALTH PROGRAM.

http://drbillsclinic.com/heart-health.html

Look, my Dad died a week before his 54th birthday from heart disease.
And a week before that, he had a “clean bill of health” from his doctor,
including a “normal” EKG.

So I have more than a little interest in this subject, for very personal
reasons. Odds are pretty good that I have these same genes. So I needed
to find a way to change my genetic destiny. This program is the result.

This is the Cliff Notes version of “How to Prevent or Reverse Heart Disease,”
explained in layman’s English, so anyone can understand it.

My good friend, Matt Furey, Zen Master of Health & Fitness (R), World
Champion of Shwai Jiao Kung Fu, National Wrestling Champion, personal
trainer and fitness authority, interviewed me to extract every drop of
knowledge I’ve learned about this vital subject, in a riveting DVD.

If that wasn’t enough, Matt has created a perfect Heart Health Workout,
on a second DVD, to conditon your heart, raise your cardiac reserve,
reduce your risk of CAD, ramp up your metabolic rate and increase your
vital lung capacity.

When you consider the risk you run by doing nothing, or the costs you incur,
with medical or surgical treatment for advanced heart disease, the minimal
investment for all the benefits of this twin DVD program is a pittance.

But that’s not all. There are a bunch of great health bonuses that
further enhance the value of this program… but only if you order NOW.

If you’re middle aged or better, if you have heart disease anywhere in
your family history, or if you have any heart symptoms right now, then
THIS is the program you NEED. Click the link and Get it HERE!

http://drbillsclinic.com/heart-health.html

This is your HEART we’re talking about. And you only have one….

Til next time, my friend, be well.

Yours for reduced cardiac risk and optimal heart health,

Dr. Bill

P.S. Hey, don’t delay. Get HEART HEALTH here. And do it NOW!

The other day, I got an email from a subscriber who is typical of many
who believe they are beyond hope. This person is a diabetic, markedly
obese and at high risk for heart attack, stroke, high blood pressure and
a host of other ills.

She further describes herself as more than a little obese, what we used
to call “five by five”– someone so fat that they can barely move. She
understandably worries that it may be too late to help her, that she’s just
past the point of no return.

Doctors refer to such people as morbidly obese, or super obese,
those with a BMI (Body Mass Index) of 40 plus. Remember that 25 is
considered overweight and 30, or better, is obese, just to give the number
some perspective.

As kids, we referred to such people, rather cruelly, if accurately, as “circus fat,”
referring to the enormously fat people in the early freak shows, or circus side
shows.

Such people are almost certainly diabetic, as well as hypertensive
(suffering from high blood pressure) and often have elevated cholesterol
levels, a constellation of signs and symptoms today referred to as “Metabolic
Syndrome,” or “Syndrome X.”

They also often have severe shortness of breath, from the mechanical
problems of trying to breathe with all that extra weight pressing down on
them and constricting their chests.

Then, there are the mechanical problems of trying to get out of bed, or a
chair, without help, and the severe pain that results from the crushing
extra weight that overloads their poor suffering joints, with every step.
It ain’t a pretty picture. And it’s easy to see why such people are often
depressed and surrender to despair.

Think you’ve got troubles? Just imagine being a prisoner in your own flesh,
like this. Makes worrying about an extra ten or twenty pounds around your
middle seem downright silly, doesn’t it?

But there IS hope for the super obese and everyone else: My new
weight loss plan, DR. BILL’s RAPID FIRE FAT LOSS PROGRAM:

http://drbillsclinic.com/rapid-fire-fat-loss.html

The scientific principles underpinning this plan are the same ones the
body works on, even extra jumbo bodies, like this lady’s. In fact, there’s
a special section in the program, specifically for people who are in
this predicament.

I show you what to eat, explain how much to eat and how often to eat.
So easy to do and it ignites your metabolic furnace and blowtorches
fat right off your frame, faster than you ever believed possible.

How about exercise? These folks can barely move as it is. How can they
exercise without keeling over?

Well, one way is to walk in water. If a super obese person is submerged
in a pool, or in a calm body of water (for obvious reasons, it’s best to avoid
the beach, if there is any surf, or undertow), the water will buoy their body
weight, reducing stress by a very substantial amount and allowing
them to walk enough to increase their metbolic rate.

The higher the metabolic rate, the faster the “fat burn.”

There are other tricks, as well, all described in my program. The point is,
this is a program that works FAST and works for everyone.
And it KILLS YOUR APPETITE. This is HUGE! Hunger is the number
one reason most diets fail. Imagine how much easier it can be to lose
weight, if that’s NOT an issue.

Anyway, if it works for the super heavy people, imagine how much easier
it can work for YOU.

Look, one month of the New Year is gone already. Whether you are
procrastinating, or you’ve fallen off the wagon on your resolutions,
NOW is the time to get busy. Click the link. Get it HERE!

And do it now, while you’re thinking about it.

Til next time, my friend, be well.

Yours for rapid fire fat loss and your optimal health,

Dr. Bill

P.S. Of course, you WILL have to buy a whole new wardrobe,
but on a positive note, you WILL also look a whole lot more
attractive… naked. See what I mean and GET IT HERE!

I am writing this in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. Since tomorrow
(that is, later this morning) begins the Florida Primary, I spent most of
the day, yesterday, at a Newt Gingrich rally, in fact, the very last rally
before the Primary.

This was the Bride’s idea. I think she was jealous, when I showed her
my photo of me shaking hands with the candidate, from last Saturday.
Hey, if he wins, he could be President. If not, he’s still a pretty
important historical figure. So she wanted HER chance to meet him, too.

Anyway, shortly after I awakened, she asked me if I’d like to go to
this NEWT 2012 rally in downtown Orlando, just around the corner from
where I met him this past weekend. Why not? I wasn’t doing anything
else and any excuse to bail out on my chores was welcome.

Besides, I kind of like his positive, pro-American message and the raw
power of his intelligence. And, I have to admit a certain sympathy with his
position as the underdog.

I frankly resented the nature and number of the negative ads he’s been
subjected to, especially since I was alive and remember the events
referenced, quite clearly, from the 90′s. Much of what has been
alleged is simply not true, or is exaggerated out of all proportion.

And that sortie of his second wife, specifically designed to hurt his
election chances…Wow! Was that low rent behavior, or what? Think she
might be a little bit bitter? Hmmmm?

Look, I really don’t give a damn about his personal life (besides, after
Clinton’s episodes with Monica in the Oval Office, everything else is
pretty lame, by comparison).

What I DO care about is that the guy has big, bold & pro-American ideas and
he’s smart… very smart… and highly imaginative. Like they say, you can
teach the ignorant, but you can’t fix stupid.

Now, just so you know where I’m coming from, I am an ABO type: I will
support ANYBODY But Obama, who I believe the evidence shows has been
a disaster for the country. He would be unleashed and without restraint
in a second term, without ever having to face voters again, resulting
in an orgy of left wing wet dreams and a further loss of our personal
freedoms. The country, as founded, as the leading world power, would be
finished. Kaput. Finito. Over.

Given that perspective, whoever wins the nomination, I will support.
In the meanwhile, I want the games to continue as long as possible.
They will strengthen and improve the eventual nominee and thoroughly
vet whoever emerges.

Now, if you support one of the other nominees, or… *shudder!*… Obama,
don’t bother writing to tell me how misguided I am. Instead, give thanks
that we live in a country where we can still disagree, as free people.
Remember, it’s difference of opinion that makes horse racing possible.

Meanwhile, we were right in the next to front row at the rally, having
shown up early. In an hour, the place was packed. I met a nice 85 year old
lady from Queens in the front row, as well as her daughter and her husband,
who were from Williamsburg in New York. New Yorkers are everywhere!

The old lady was a big time NEWT supporter. She had some arthritis, so
naturally I suggested she try some pharmaceutical grade fish oil for its
anti-inflammatory effects: http://drbillsformulas.com/.
Just in front of her was the “pit,” where all the news
photographers were kneeling (KNEELING!), while awaiting the arrival of
the candidate. I suggested to one of them, who was close to me, that
kneeling on a hard floor was a recipe for bad knee pain, in the future.

HE would benefit from my PAIN-FREE PROGRAM exercises

http://drbillsclinic.com/exercise_eliminate.html

(come to think of it, so would candidate NEWT), those which I collected
and tested for over three decades and which I’ve used myself. But, I
expect to be ignored. That’s what happens when you give someone good
medical advice for free.

Finally, after arriving at the nearby airport from Tampa, Newt and Callista
were introduced by former Orange County Mayor Rich Crotty, former
Attorney General, Bill McCollum and radio talk show host (and adopted
son of the former President) Michael Reagan, to thunderous applause.

I don’t know who’s going to win, but I can tell you that the passion
in that room was palpable, the atmosphere, electric. These people are
motivated!

He gave a very good speech, with lots of “red meat” and “hot buttons” for
the crowd, and then, exhorted his supporters to go out and VOTE! When
he finished, to more cheers and applause, they descended from the stage
and went down the front row, slowly, shaking hands and signing books and
papers and greeting supporters.

I got a bunch of great new photos, the bride got her wish and met Newt,
his wife AND Michael Reagan, as well as a bunch of campaign buttons
(including a nifty “Don’t Tread On Me” button. I always liked that motif!).

Then, we left and went to a remarkably good restaurant called Hemisphere,
in the Orlando International Airport (9th floor), if you can believe it. I had the
grilled salmon, the Bride had the scallops–both were excellent!

All in all, it was a fun and exciting, if exhausting day. Sure wasn’t boring.

As for the election, well, tomorrow will tell. Romney is still favored to
win, but I guess we’ll soon see.

Til next time my friend, be well.

Yours for a pain-free tomorrow and your optimal health,

Dr. Bill

P.S. Remember, if you don’t want bad knees, NEVER kneel for extended
periods on hard floors. Always use a pad, or pillow. And if you want
to improve your odds of avoiding (or eliminating) knee pain, try my
PAIN-FREE PROGRAM! You have nothing to lose but your pain!

It’s Monday again–the start of another busy week for me, following a
very busy, event-filled weekend. I was jumpin’ around like a one-armed
paper hanger. Hope yours was peaceful, or at least pleasant.

Ever notice how time just telescopes when you have a lot to do? That’s
how it was, all last week. First, one of my friends from the local comic
shop (Acme Superstore) was leaving town Saturday, to open his very
own comic shop in Chicago, a major life change for him and fulfillment
of a long time dream.

To give him a good going away present, I decided to give him a piece
of my original comic art: a pen, ink and wash drawing of Batman, one
of his favorite characters. If you’re a newcomer, you may not know that
I was a pro comic artist, briefly, in the 70′s (nearly giving my poor mother
a stroke, when she thought I might bail on med school and she’d never
be able to say, “My son, the doctor”).

But since I hadn’t done any drawing for a while, it took me a bit of time
to get my hand back in and execute it. As a general rule, everything
takes longer than you think it should.

Then, I had to leave Friday, to attend a meeting in Orlando of fellow
internet entrepreneurs, who had traveled here from all over. I was
asked to give the group a presentation, telling the attendees all
about the health benefits of pharmaceutical grade fish oil…
http://drbillsformulas.com/, as well as the joint venture
opportunities for those who would like to present this product
to their own contacts and email lists.

I was fortunate to make a lot of new friends, in various fields, and
learn a lot. Then, from out of the blue, I had a brief brush with
history….

During one of our breaks, I wandered outside for a breath of fresh air.
And there, right in front of me, was this giant black bus with “NEWT 2012″
emblazoned on the side, in bold red letters. There was a group of
security types surrounding a thin blond woman, in a hot pink skirt suit,
who turned out to be Calista Gingrich!

Shy boy that I am, I went right up to her (as a suddenly more alert
security guy, in black sunglasses, said to her, “Coming up behind you,
Ma’am”) and introduced myself. She seems much softer, more pleasant
and personable than she comes across on TV. Smiled easily, too. She
really seemed very nice.

A litte while later, Newt Gingrich himself showed up. Seems the bus was
early for their next scheduled stop (at a big Baptist church on Aloma
Avenue in Winter Park, just north of our hotel location. They had pulled
over to meet up with the candidate, just by sheer luck.

Now whether you like Newt as a Presidential Candidate, or not, it can’t
be denied that he is an important figure in the recent modern history
of our country, from his tenure as Speaker of the House, during the
Clinton Presidency.

This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me to meet the man
…and I sure didn’t want to waste it. I waited until he finished a rather
long cellphone call, then asked if I could meet him. He was very
gracious and agreed.

Up close, the poor guy looked tired to me, which shouldn’t be a surprise.
I can’t imagine the continual stress of a presidential campaign. Why anyone
would want to do that, putting up with endless scrutiny by the public,
constant pummeling by negative TV ads, and biased reporting, by a very
slanted, left wing press, is beyond me. I wouldn’t do it, for love nor
money.

I asked a member of his entourage to take a photo of me shaking hands
with the Speaker, since I had a camera with me, again, purely by chance.

I stepped next to him and he looked me in the eyes and smiled as he shook
my hand and posed for the shot. He had a warm, dry and very firm handshake.

Given how many thousands of hands he must have shaken, I was pleasantly
surprised. I thanked him for his courtesy and wished him good luck on
his campaign, which he acknowledged with thanks, a smile and a nod. I
then dropped back, to let others get their chance to meet the candidate.

He stuck around to let everyone meet him, who wanted to, which I thought
was pretty nice of him, given that the staff was trying to get them all
back on the bus, for the next campaign stop.

I again thought that he seemed tired, as he turned to climb the stairs
into the front of the bus (and no wonder, given his brutal schedule).
But I noticed that his knee seemed to buckle a bit and he had to grab
the handrail, as he almost lost his balance. But then, he recovered and
was able to get on board.

I’m guessing he has a bit of arthritis in that knee, due to age and
compounded by the extra weight he’s carrying. He would benefit from my
pharmaceutical grade fish oil, http://drbillsformulas.com
which has potent natural anti-inflammatory properties. But there was
zero chance that his security staff would allow him to accept any bottle
from some strange guy who says he’s a doctor, even though I had some
available for the seminar.

He’d also benefit from some serious weight loss, not only because it
would take a lot of pressure off that knee, but also reduce stress on
his heart and cut his risk of heart attack, or stroke. If I thought
there was any chance he’d accept it, I’d have given him a copy of my
RAPID FIRE FAT LOSS PROGRAM, to help him out with that.

http://drbillsclinic.com/rapid-fire-fat-loss.html

But then, the moment passed and I had to return to the seminar, which
was already back in session.

The people will decide which of the candidates will emerge as the
challenger to the President in the next election. But whoever eventually
wins, I’m glad I had the chance to meet an historical figure, in the
flesh.

You just never know what’s gonna happen, do you? Til next time, my
friend, be well.

Yours for rapid fire fat loss and your optimal health,

Dr. Bill

Under the heading of “Things Now Presented As New That I Read About
Years Ago,” there is an article, now on the website, HealthJockey.com,
which trumpets the virtues of brown fat and its potential use for
weight loss.

Apparently, there was a small study (small, as in six participants)
conducted by Professor André Carpentier and his coworkers, from the
University of Sherbrooke, which documented the effects of cold
environments on the heat generating properties of brown fat. The study
was published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation.

Using PET scans (Positron Emission Tomography) and chemical tracers
to identify and track energy expenditure, the researchers found that
energy utilization was increased in the regions of activated brown fat.

For the uninitiated, brown fat is a special kind of fat that exists
in the human body only in small, discrete patches, usually located
in the upper back, in the back of the neck and over the kidneys. It’s
called brown fat because it looks brown, if you were to see it.

And it looks brown, because it’s loaded with blood vessels and many
mitochondria (microscopic cellular “power plants”), which are brown
in color. Mitochondria consume “fuel,” in the form of glucose (sugar)
and fats, to produce cellular energy.

This brown fat generates a tremendous amount of heat and to do
so, it utilizes a lot of stored energy (released from the vast stores
of WHITE fat, what most of us think of, when we think of fat at all).
The amount of heat they generate is out of all proportion to their
fairly small size. It clearly plays some role in the energy balance
of the body.

While this study, small though it is, is very interesting and confirms
what has been the prevailing thought about the function of brown fat,
it’s really old news. I read about brown fat and how to harness its
fat burning potential years ago, from Durk Pearson & Sandy Shaw’s
book, The Life Extension Diet.

They pointed out that one way to stimulate your metabolism passively,
with no conscious effort at all, is to wear light clothing or very
little clothing, while going about your home, with the thermostat
turned down. If you want and even more aggressive approach, you can
take a cool bath, or shower (extra fat burning occurs, if you get so
cold that you begin to shiver).

However, this is much less effective if you’re really grossly obese,
because too much (white) fat acts as a great insulator. But if you’re
just a bit overweight, it works very well.

Though the brown fat pads are the mechanism of heat generation, the
reason it works is that your body’s number one priority, with regard
to energy utilization, is to maintain your core temperature. If your
brain gets the message that your temperature is in danger of falling
(getting cold), it pulls out all the stops to maintain that core temp
and ramps up your metabolism, burning fat at a highly accelerated rate.

Now, is that one cool tip for burnin’ blubber, or what?

And it’s just ONE of the many, many tips I share with you in my popular
and highly effective RAPID FIRE FAT LOSS PROGRAM.

http://drbillsclinic.com/rapid-fire-fat-loss.html

This program uses every measure I’ve acquired over the decades to
maximize weight loss, with minimal effort. It’s based on known

Let’s get the State of The Union out of the way first. It sucks!

You’d think that the President would “get” that his policies are not
helping, but NOOOOO. His prescription? More borrowing. More taxes,
more regulation, more class warfare… and his re-election. Same old,
same old.

And more of the same will only get us…more of the same. And that
ain’t good. It’s depressing. Ah well, November is coming….

Now then, moving on, I came across a pretty interesting article in
one of the on-line cardiology newsletters, to which I subscribe. It
seems they found physiological proof of the beneficial effects of
yoga on abnormal heart rhythms.

Dr. Dhanunjaya Lakkireddy (of the University of Kansas Hospital, in
Kansas City) recently presented a paper at the Boston Atrial Fibrillation
Symposium 2012. He and his group plan to study the effect of yoga on
various heart-rate problems.

This new study will follow an earlier one, which documented the experience
of 49 patients with paroxysmal AF (atrial fibrillation–a very rapid
irregular heart beat) who also participated in yoga.

He said, “Yoga doesn’t really cure atrial fibrillation, but it definitely
improves the symptoms and the arrhythmia burden.”

The former study of 49 patients with paroxysmal AF found that episodes
of AF were significantly reduced, with 22% having no new AF episodes,
while practicing BKS Iyengar yoga. Anxiety and depression scores,
quality-of-life scores, resting heart rate, and systolic and diastolic
blood pressure also showed some improvement.

The question was, were the benefits from relaxation alone, or was there
a specific benefit from yoga? To answer that question, the researchers
did a correlation analysis, to see whether these cardiovascular benefits
seen in the study were related to stress reduction only or if there was
any independent influence of yoga on arrhythmia.

The analysis showed a (statistically) nonsignificant trend toward the
improvement in anxiety levels which influence the episodes of fibrillation.
But it’s possible that a larger study (involving more people) might
show a statistically significant relationship.

Also, the changes in systolic blood pressure appear to be influence the
changes in atrial-fibrillation episodes, while improvement in resting
heart rate correlated with improvements in anxiety scores.

Thre researchers chose the BKS Iyengar yoga system, because it combines
the asanas (yoga poses) with breathing programs and meditation. There
is a large body of published evidence on the beneficial cardiovascular
effects of BKS Iyengar yoga. Some other programs emphasize the breathing
practices, while others emphasize the asanas.

Despite the demonstrated benefits, the researchers encountered some
resistance from participants. Only about half of the patients stuck to
the prescribed yoga program, after completion of the study.

Also, it appears that men are much more reluctant to try yoga than women.
(What a shock, huh?) Dr. Lakkireddy reported that, “Men seem to be very
reluctant to be wearing spandex and doing a downward-dog pose on a yoga
mat.” (Another great shock!)

Based on their work, he and his group believe that yoga improves the
flexibility and stability of the autonomic nervous system.

In addition to its beneficial effects on reducing stress and improving
quality of life, “evolving evidence” suggests that yoga reduces the
risk of cardiac arrhythmia, by suppressing any acute sympathetic surge
(the “fight or flight” response you learned about in High School biology),
while simultaneously improving parasympathetic tone.

Previous studies have shown that these effects on the autonomic nervous
system can lead to improved heart-rate variability and blood pressure.

There are many other proven effects of yoga, such as reduced inflammation,
reduced oxidative stress (fewer free radicals), and better endothelial
function (meaning that the lining of the arteries becomes more flexible
and works better).

In addition, many people who start a yoga program often begin other
positive lifestyle changes, such as weight loss and reduced alcohol
consumption, or giving up other bad habits.

There is a “complex interplay” between stress and anxiety and cardiac
arrhythmias along the “mind-body continuum,” according to Dr. Lakkireddy.
Yoga fits into this mind-body model well, as the seven chakras (energy
centers) of yoga are similar to the regional autonomic controls known to
exist in the body.

Great! Now what does all this mean? It’s more proof, if any were needed,
that there IS a mind-body connection. And for that reason, you can often
influence the one by specific activities on the other.

In my new HEART HEALTH PROGRAM, we take advantage of this principle.

http://drbillsclinic.com/heart-health.html

For example, the Heart Health Workout DVD, created especially for this
program by my friend, Matt Furey, Zen Master of Health & Fitness (R)
will help to lower your blood lipids, raise your good cholesterol,
and reduce your blood pressure and overall risk of heart attack.

But that’s not all. The special diet that I recommend, together with a
select group of pharmaceutical grade supplements, help too. One such
is fish oil, the most potent source of concentrated omega-3 fatty acids,
which works in conjunction with all these physical measures, to reduce
your risk of abnormal heart rhythms, (just like yoga in these studies),
as well as your blood pressure, blood lipids, triglycerides and other
multiple benefits, too numerous to mention here.

And the deep breathing that I recommend correlates with the yoga
practice of breathing (Pranayama), for its many physiological benefits,
including lowering blood pressure, reducing anxiety and depression
and improving mood.

You see, all these mind-body factors work together, to slash your risk
of heart attack (and stroke, for that matter–same disease, different
organ). There is no “silver bullet.”

Heart disease is a multifactorial disorder. It requires a true
multifactorial approach, to prevent or eliminate the disease. Now, if
this makes sense to you, if you are living in the “Target Zone,”
meaning you are middle aged or older, too heavy, with high blood pressure,
maybe diabetes, have bad habits, like smoking or drinking too much,
then you NEED this program.

YOU can save your own life. You only need to click the link:

http://drbillsclinic.com/heart-health.html

And do it NOW, while you’re thinking about it! At the moment, you’re
playing “Russian Roulette” with your life. This program is your chance
to slash your risk of heart attack… and live!

If you’re smart, you’ll make your move now, before it’s too late.
Til next time, my friend, be well.

Yours for reduced cardiac risk and your optimal heart health,

While sitting in my family room, watching the news shows, I was
entertained by a number of commercials for Nutri-System. At other
times, it’s been Weight Watchers, or Jennie Craig. And of course,
there’s that old standby show for voyeuristic masochism, The Biggest
Loser.

All of them have one thing in common: they all rely on some variation
of the tried and true low fat, low calorie diet.

What’s wrong with that, you ask?

Nothing…except for the fact that it simply doesn’t work for long
term weight loss. Indeed, it’s been an outstanding failure for over
60 years.

That’s not to say that some people can’t lose weight on it. They can.
But most of them, about 95%, cannot keep it off. That’s why current
statistics report that one on three Americans is clinically obese,
soon to be one in two.

Think of that–a population that is 50% obese. And that doesn’t count
the merely overweight.

The fact is, only a minority of our population is fit and in shape.
And the results are well known: a sky high incidence of heart disease
(the number one killer in Western Civilization), type 2 diabetes
rampant, certain cancers on the rise, lung disease, even Alzheimer’s,
all major problems, all related to obesity.

All these are the result of the “common wisdom” of the low calorie, low
fat diet. And it’s associated with constant hunger, a feeling of
depletion and low energy, besides. These are not “fun” diets.

Yet, despite this record of abject failure over decades, the mainstream
Medical establishment continues to put all its “eggs” in that basket.

But, there is a better way, based on science and thousands of studies
that document the metabolic principles on which my own diet plan,
the RAPID FIRE FAT LOSS PROGRAM, is based.

http://drbillsclinic.com/rapid-fire-fat-loss.html

This isn’t just a diet, but a new way of relating to food and selected
actiovities to jack up your metabolic rate. And you use real food from
regular grocery stores; no fancy prepackaged foods, or artificially
processed selections.

It’s just a matter of discovering the principles that your body uses
to generate energy, then utilizing those same principles to your
advantage, by nudging your metabolism into pathways that tap into
your fat stores for energy. That’s why I know that this program WORKS.

It’s the same program I used to drop 60 pounds…and keep it off.

If that’s something you’d like to be able to do, then get on board,
click the link and Get it HERE!

http://drbillsclinic.com/rapid-fire-fat-loss.html

And do it now. Whatever damage you’ve already done to your body, this
program can help reverse years of neglect and bad habits. But you need
to START, before it can even begin to work.

You’ll feel better, look better, and your doctor will be thrilled.
THAT I can guarantee!

C’mon! We’re only three weeks into the New Year. Even if you’ve already
fallen off the wagon on your resolutions (many people have), it’s only the
beginning. You can climb back on that wagon and begin to make some
real progress, in just a few weeks.

No pain. No hunger. No kidding. As a matter of fat…it works every
time it’s tried. So try it and see for yourself. Til next time, my
friend, be well.

Yours for rapid fire fat loss and your optimal health,

Dr. Bill

P.S. Like I said, you can’t experience the benefits, unless you
get started. GET IT HERE and start on a new path for better
health, NOW. http://drbillsclinic.com/rapid-fire-fat-loss.html
